Improve community involvement in decision making.
Ensure the community has their say on important decisions before they are made.
Develop stronger relationships between the Town and our community.
When elected Councillors make decisions about developments that have significant impacts on our shared open spaces without genuinely engaging with our community, they can fail to take into account community needs and interests.
That is why I believe that our Town Council should demonstrate a genuine commitment to consultation and to community engagement in decision making by making it as easy as possible for people to participate.
If elected to Council, I will work with other Councillors to strengthen our Town’s Community Consultation Policy to deliver stronger engagement with residents, business proprietors, and community groups.
I will work to ensure that people are provided with enough information to have an informed opinion about the decisions that need to be made, make it easier for people to make their views known, and ensure that our community’s interests are better protected.
I want a Town Council that genuinely engages with ratepayers and involves our community in its decisions.
